{"id":45,"date":"2019-02-19T17:25:14","date_gmt":"2019-02-19T17:25:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/focusoneurope.eu\/?page_id=45"},"modified":"2019-02-19T19:44:56","modified_gmt":"2019-02-19T19:44:56","slug":"generalife","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/focusoneurope.eu\/?page_id=45","title":{"rendered":"Generalife"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Palace and gardens are separate from the Alhambra and were used by the Nasrid kings as\na retreat and a place of rest, particularly in the summer months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Generalife is located in the so-called Cerro del Sol and was built\nby Ismail I, who reigned between 1314 and 1325. In 1931 it was\nextended and the gorgeous gardens and cypress mazes were created around the\npalace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/focusoneurope.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/visitas-guiadas.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Generalife is surrounded by&nbsp;orchards, which used to supply the\nkitchens of the Alhambra.\nThe&nbsp;Palace&nbsp;had all the necessary amenities. The&nbsp;Patio del\nDescabalgamiento&nbsp;was the entrance, where riders dismounted their horses,\nand from there they entered the&nbsp;Patio de la Acequia. The water\nfeature here runs lengthways along the gardens as well a pool and a fountain,\nboth of which were added some centuries later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;Pabell\u00f3n Sur&nbsp;was possibly a harem whilst the&nbsp;Pabell\u00f3n\nNorte&nbsp;housed the apartments of the monarch. The&nbsp;Patio de la Sultana&nbsp;got its name\nbecause, according to legend, the aged cypress (which is today just a tree\ntrunk) witnessed the infidelities of the King\u2019s favourite with a gentleman from\nthe Abencerraje family.
