{"id":65,"date":"2019-02-19T17:30:54","date_gmt":"2019-02-19T17:30:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/focusoneurope.eu\/?page_id=65"},"modified":"2019-02-20T19:41:20","modified_gmt":"2019-02-20T19:41:20","slug":"abadia-del-sacromonte","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/focusoneurope.eu\/?page_id=65","title":{"rendered":"Abad\u00eda del Sacromonte"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>This abbey, inspired by El Escorial, was built in the 17th&nbsp;century.\nIt was as an important cultural and religious centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was commissioned by the Jesuit Archbishop of Granada Pedro de Castro\nCabeza de Vaca y Qui\u00f1ones to the Jesuit architect Pedro S\u00e1nchez.&nbsp;The\ncourtyard is a particular highlight of the building&nbsp;with galleries\ndecorated with Tuscan columns on all of its four sides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/focusoneurope.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/reservar-Ruta-visita-tour-guiada-Abadia-del-Sacromonte-y-Albayzin-con-guia-para-grupos-2.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The church is dedicated to the Virgin of the Assumption. The initial\nfloor plans consisted of a nave with a chancel at the end. It was extended in\nthe 18th&nbsp;century, in the shape of a Latin cross, with three naves, a\nchancel, a transept and a choir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The abbey is located on the top of Monte Valpara\u00edso, at the end of the\nroad of the seven hills of Sacromonte. In the 17th&nbsp;century, lead plates\nwere discovered here, which tell the story of the martyrdom of Saint Caecilius,\nSaint Ctesiphon and San Hiscio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Saint Caecilius is the patron saint of Granada.
