El Partal

This beautiful building – of which only a large pond, a five-arched portico and the Torre Mirador de las Damas remain – was built by Muhammad III.

Next to it there are three small and modest houses, of which there used to be nine in all. In them paintings dating back to the 14th century were depicting a pilgrimage to Mecca.

Until recently there were two stone lions that sat at the front corners of the pond. They came from the Maristán hospital that was located in the centre of Granada. Today they can be seen in the Museum of the Alhambra.
